that is scary, i would not visit Manila any time soon. You fly into philipine? be careful
so sad.. such a tragedy
I tell you, I saw the news on the front page of the BKK Post this morning and was shocked. It is sad, I know so many friends from Manila and realize that the country is generally safe, but I personally know four different people who have been the victims of violence when visiting Manila: one friend was kidnapped in a taxi, robbed, beaten, and left by the roadside; another friend (well, a friend’s colleague whom I knew) was found murdered in his hotel room; and while I was there for a wedding, my friend’s mother had a necklace ripped from her neck as she entered an elevator and his groomsman was robbed at gunpoint at an ATM in Makati. It is difficult more me to set aside those experiences and think rationally about the safety of traveling to Manila.
@christao408 - well….as a half Pinoy, for so many years I hv been told by my relatives that, the country is not a safe place to live and it’s the main reason why over 80% of them who’re able, hv left the country and stay else where in the world. And if you’re a Chinese origin( I’m the only one from my father side who is chinese), the highest chance being kidnapped, therefore my Mom used to be sooo worried when I was having my annual visit trip to MNL when I was kid. I guess we all know the heavy corruption plays the most important part of the mess the the country… again Sad!
