  • Some Food Recap…

Havn’t been posting food pics for some times, here is a recap for a couple of places I have visited over the past 2 months…

Meloty Fine Tea in Richmond BC a Taiwanese immigrant runs this Tea House since 1999 I think I did post their tea and dessert a while back, and this May tried dinner menu, frankly for an entree the price is par with the local restaurants like Milestone, Cactus…. at least they do offer to top up with   CAD9 to make it a set dinner, which includes a soup/salad, a main course, a dessert and a tea/ coffee.

The cream of mushroom soup  or the mixed greens salad

Seafood spaghetti  and the Stirfired Lobster pasta

    Grilled Prime Rib……medium rare

4 different sets of the dessert trio

In June spent a week off in Hong Kong and also tried out these places

A very Fusion Chinese food Club Qing at LKF…..a restaurant with a chinese decor, and serving chinese food with a touch of everyhere

This lunch set menu is  at HKD250/person,  for the appetizers  today : Kurobuta (aka Black) Pork’s ham roll with mushroom,

The second one: Chilled Baby Tomatoe with Lychee Sauce , and the first course Deep Fried Chicken Stick with Passion Fruit  Yogurts sauce, it was soo crispy on the outside and very tender and juicy inside…..

2nd : Steam egg-white and Soy-beam milk with xo sauce – interesting combination and taste  like a savory  Douhua(aka. beancurd flower a dessert) and even softer… 3rd a Traditional Chinese Soup – Yellow Cucumber, Sea shell and Hokkiga (japanese clams) which is very teaty and luckily I couldn’t taste a trace of….MSG! good job!

Sanuki Udon in Prime Beef Consume : using very good Japanese udon from Kagawa Prefecture, in a very good soup base( again no trace of MSG) and New Zealand  beef, even the Radish is with good quality soft and tender like without any fiber. and the dessert a citrus foam with pomelo hm…… a bit too sour to my taste….

A light dinner having this baked BBQ Pork(Char Siu) with Peach on Fried rice at Tai Hing……hm……typical HK fast food…. :P

Another night had dinner with a group of friend at this Tai Wing Wah Village Cuisine at Kowloon Bay, a kind of traditional village home made food…….I foud the food quite good and not too memorable except those I will talk about after, and it was quite reasonable at price actually even cheaper than a meal in TST or CWB with the same kind of quality….

Steam Rice in a clay pot with premium soy sauce and….LARD,  yes I know…it’s unhealthy thats’ why I shared it with 2 ladies….and oh my……it’s so delicious, maybe it’s one of the reason why their boss( nick name To To),  is soo over weight!

and there’s not a dessert of Almond Sweet soup, it’s actually the Soup.with main ingredient Pig Lung, Ginkgo

Steam Sponge Cake (馬拉糕) with custard…. and the  Steam White Lotus Seeds paste bun

After watching Chicago – The Musical went to have this afternoon tea at the Pomme

Then went for a hot pot dinner at Tanyutou(譚魚頭), usual food but with some different condiment, we order the Tomatoe Soup in stead of their famous Sichuan chilli  soup, therefore had this  bowl of condiment with peanuts, chilli, garlic, chinese parsley …..etc, you have to put the soup into the bowl then after you’ve cooked your food int he hot pot you dip them into this bowl and eat…..

Here’s  the hot pot with all the veggie, dumpling and food……

  • Help him rather than being harsh on him

The kid in the following Youtube clip represents some of the young people( born during the 90s) behaviour  nowadays, not only in Hong Kong or the Far East, the problem is everywhere around the world.  This boy has been talked about in Youtube( the original clip without the sub-title), a Hong Kong forum, and even facebook…..I feel sad for him because I really will not blame on him, nor the school but his parents.

If  two of you need to work 20 hours a day  7 days a week just to survive or to achieve your personal goals and cannot spare time to raise, educate, guide you children to grow. please  please do not have kids…….only giving  food and all the material stuff , rely on the hands of the grand-parents or helpers cannot  help them to grow into a quality human being….Basic manners should be taught by their own parents even before the kids went to the kinder-garden..or some couple are actually not qualified to be parents…..?

  • Dialogue in the Dark

Have you ever thought of how a blind person lives his daily life? Sat afternoon I went with a group of friends and experienced it….it’s called Dialogue in the Dark a activity aimed to raise fund to asisit the blind people in their daily life..

    005

8 people in a group, and you will be guided by leader, using the a blind cane and walk through….in a total darkness……

A park, to ride a ferry, shopping at a market, have a drink and chat in a bar…..

At the begining, it was fear and helpless, cos we could not see anything, however after a while once you get used to  your other senses…to touch, to listen, to smell, last but not least the courage to explore….it’s really make you see those blind people in another way……..

Dialogue in the Dark may not be available in every country, however if it does in your place, be sure to experience it….
