  • Karma?????

I don’t want my blog to be too politics but I’m suprised to have read this……

SHARON STONE – STONE BLAMES BAD KARMA FOR CHINA EARTHQUAKE

SHARON STONE left Chinese journalists stunned at the Cannes Film Festival in France last week (22May08) when she suggested the country’s recent earthquake was “karma”.
The outspoken actress was talking to a Chinese media outlet on Thursday when she linked the recent disaster, which left more than 67,000 people dead, to China’s recent treatment of Tibetans.
She said, “All these earthquakes and stuff happened and I thought, `Is that karma?’ When you are not nice, bad things happen to you.
“I’m not happy about how the Chinese are treating the Tibetans, I don’t think anyone should be unkind to anyone else.
“They’re not being very nice to the Dali Lama, who’s a good friend of mine.”

I don’t recall any celebrities have such a comment when New Orleans being hit by the Hurricane Katrina few years ago but if there’s really Karma…..hm…I supposed the US also did something really BAD as well?

  • Indian Food Buffet

I had a buffet dinner at the Tandoor Indian Restaurant in Central on Thursday night , the decor and setting was very…tourist and the restaurant does look expensive……anyway we sat down and browsed through the menu and eventually picked the buffet at only HKD198/person . Though it’s a buffet but the food is superb while the service is mostly satisflied  with all the indian servers (be prepared they won’t give you the usual HK style BRUSQUE service, a bit slow however very attentive) except the 2 Filipinas servers who have a long face through out the night.

  • Fusion Filipino Food

Went to a Filipino Restaurnat  called Rekados  in Vancouver  last Sat with my friends….being a half Filipino I’ve been longing for good pinoy food for years after my mom passed away….therefore have much expectation with this dinner..

The restaurant setting is modern, the food presentation is great, taste is good, service is warm and effecient, however some of the dishes lack of something…..what is it?????

    IMGP0837

The true Filipino touch…everything is being made too Western, too tailor to the palate of the westerners….specially the most popular dish  Manok Adobo (Chix Adobo) I couldn’t taste the main ingredient Vinegar, couldn’t even smell  the aroma of it………

    IMGP0845

Manok Adobo  the chix lying on top of a beef stew, and the stew over power the origianl taste of the Adobo

Halo Halo the dessert ….the more  Sorbetes, and milk the better

I’m not saying the food is bad, frankly some dishes are very tasteful

e.g the Palabok, the Pinirito na Baboy , Sinigang  Na Hipon , and  the Chocolate Caramel.which is  the highlight but…it’s a very western style dessert!

It’s just  being a half pinoy I’m a bit disappointed , will I go there again, yes, but my mind set will be changed from visiting a Filipino Food to a Western Food with a little essence from the Phillippines…..cos it’s not authentic enough.
