  • Food in HKG and YVR

Last Fri night went to have dinner at this Sunning Restaurant  at Causeway Bay in HKG again…..cos this is one of those HKG Style soy sauce western food restaurants I like…I had the one of the steak sets while other frieds had the steak and escargot set….price is a bit pricey, food is above average, service is better than Tai Ping Koon

  • Ngong Ping 360

Last Sat, woke up a bit early becos was planning to go for my long awaited Ngong Ping 360 Cable Car ride at Lantau island in HKG( after it reopen at the end of Dec2007)… aim to avoid the week-end queue. Alwin and I arrived at the cable car station in Tung Chung around 1030 and surprised to see that  it was not as busy as we expected.. The total cost for 2 round trip ride was HKD175 with a HKD 20 shopping vouchers at the Ngong Ping outlets  for each ticket which is quite acceptable.

The weather started out a bit cloudy however once the cbale car went upward the sky got clearer and the view of the HKG international airport and the Tung Chung area was  stunning, as they’re qutie a lot of air vent inside the car, you could feel the chilly wind blowing right to your butt!!  The ride took around 25 mins  and reached to the new Ngong Ping Villege which you can find quite a number of shops, and places to eat….with a short walk will be the entrance of the Big outdoor  Buddha  which I think will be the highlight of the ride to amny visitors(though this is my 3rd time) .

We didn’t visit the Buddha right a way instead we went to a very local home style restaurant for a very simple breakfast….

we eventualy headed back to Tung Chung after going up to the Buddha at around 1300  which you could see lots of people around  with the conveniencey of the cable car I can imagine how busy it could be if there are any big events being  held  such as the First day of Lunar New Year or the Buddha day……..and of course at last I remember to utilized my 2 vouchers and bout 02 t-shirts just like every other tourists do…..

  • chilli and spicy

Last Wed night I had an Indian dinner with Corina  at Tung Chung old village( those independant houses) called Hani Indian Restaurant. Though the place is small and looks very home cooking, the food is surprising good and best of the best …the price is 2/3 cheaper than what I had with Alwin last time at Soho area. The easiest way to reach the place it’s better to reservation a table then take a public transport to Tung Chung  MTR station 15 min before your reserved time cos they will arrange a free pick up for you from there….

On Thurs nite had dinner with another group of ex-HKG CX’s colllegues at a Chinese Restaurant( 周記避風塘)at the 7/F of the Shatin New Town Plaza which offers the old time HKG Harbour Sheltered Fisherman home dishes, I only like  the ‘Dan Ga Gai’ Boat family speciality Chix…it is like a a chix stew but the meat is very tender and the soup is very tasteful, the rest dieshes are just ok…….sorry can’t find the link threfore cannot translate the chiense dish name into english……basically most of the dishes are spicy……

  • 20 Years of Friendship

Flew back to HKG last Wed and it ‘s been  ages that my flight arrived HKG at 0620am while  the sky was still dark just like by the time we left YVR ..we actually arrived 1 hr and 10 mins ahead of schedule….How Nice!!….. After hving a morning ‘YumChai’ with some of my fellow crew members, headed back to the hotel and rested for about 2 hours .

Met up with Alwin at the airport cos he came back from his home town, after a quick freshen up we went to the Marriot Hotel’s Lobby Lounge – The Canton Tea Company for an afternoon tea buffet…at HKD200pp you will have salad, some hot savoury, desserts and of course a drink, while the selection on the hot savoury is something to be considered, the dessert section is nice though specially during this festive season…..and I have a full plate of the goodies…..festive cookies, fruit cake….etc
