  • Calgary Trip report…

Finally the day has come, need to fly to YYC assisting the company’s promotion on Friday….2 days before the trip been advised that will be flying on Air Canada AC in stead of WS….that’s fine….only around an hour flight…..not much expectation anyway…

Since I hv been an owl for a long time i.e. usually sleep around 0500 and wake up anytime past mid-day, I couldn’t really sleep on Thursday…..I guess I had a nap for about 45 min and woke up around 2320, doing nothing but forced myself to stay in bed till 0330…

Arrived at the airport around 0530 and met up with  other co-workers Kevin, Jessica, Gloria, checked in ourself, dumped the baggages and wait at the gate…….oh…No aircraft was parked at our gate….hm…..we supposed the aircraft must have been arrived a couple of hours ahead cos it’s the 2nd flight of the day, AC to operate out of YVR….anyway the ground crew made an annoucement that an aircraft will be towed from international terminal, after about 15 mins later an A319 was towed and parked at the gate…borading commenced very shortly since it’s an smaller jet plane and the flight was not full we finally pused back only15 mins late…

After  take off, the crew passed out the clip on ear phone, though there were no movies being shown, Audio entertainment offered…and a drink service( complementary breakfast in  Biz class) was carried out ..

Landing into YYC on time and we rushed to the hotel and get changed.  On the way to the hotel  I felt that I was in a Western Movie, since there are more flat lands with no rivers or hills/mountains with only greens all the way till we entered the City area. The hotel we were staying is Hotel Arts a lovely boutique hotel which interior looks very modern and cozy with a fine Frech reasturant  Saint Germin and Raw Bar a bar/restaurant.

The weather in YYC is fine and cold, whenever you are out door without sunlight , you feel really cold with the wind blowing( it’s called wind chill?) And our main task during the day: passing out flyers and mingleing with people who’s interested with us…

    PICT0101 PICT0103

Aftere a long 3 hours staying outside, we had another 2 1/2 hrs long lunch at the Earl’s( becos the service was really slow) Our 2nd half  duty of the day kicked off around 1730, as there’s a gala cocktail  at a local restaurant called Chicago Chophouse we greeted our guest, serving them snacks( including their famous  Ahi Tuna Tartare, Beef  Tartare) and of course mingle, mingle with the guest again…

Once our duty off we all rushed back to the hotel and get changed, since our hotel is located  a bit off the enterainment area. We had a long day therefore we had our dinner at the Saint Germin Restaurant which serves Fine French food and yes we need a Good Treat!…..though not the Tip Top I have had, a very good French Restaurant  worth to try if you are in Calgary.

Checked out the hotel at noon and went to the airport right away, Had a quick lunch at the food court and we took our flight back to YVR….this is a new aircraft type Embraer ERJ-190 with AC brand new product including a touch screen PTV and since the flight time was about 50 mins I watched the Harry Potter and the order of the Phoneix in the fast forward mode….luckily I’ve seen the movie in the cenima before, and of course the usual Drink service was carried out and the Inflight Director was very kind to let me have the whole can of sprite  The very short Calgary trip came to the end as I deplaned.

Now I am going to prepare for my HKG/SIN holidays!!

  • NYC

wow time flies…..it’s been more than 3 months since my last operating flight to NYC!  Arrived NYC late on Sun night, had a Japanese dinner with fellow co-workers,  surfed a bit on the internet then slept until 1500 the next day afternoon!

Had a late lunch at a burger shop ” The Good Burger ” which is on 2 blocks from  the hotel, I orderd a Hamburger with french fries and a soft drink and it cost about USD13, luckily the USD is at  historic low, though the portion of the beef is very generous and all the burgers are being made on order, so it’s fresh and being made according to your own taste.

After lunch walked up to the 5th Ave and found the HongKong Office(a representative ) located at 54th and Lexington.

Full of shoppers/toursit along the 5th Ave, did shop at the Bath and Body Works on my way back to the hotel, cos they always have this special new fragrance promotion, however after all these years I still find some of the shop-keepers in NYC are the most unfriendly the way they talk, the words they choose and even their facial and body gesture, it’s like I’m dealing with people who is approving my social welfare application. and they are doing you a favour….anyway…that’s the New Yorker….

on the return flight my co-workder shoed me his iPhone……..finally I see and touch the new toy….it’s really cool but…..I jusr read  news saying the there are lots of toxic materials were used on the phone….I think it’s made in China…what do u expect????

  • Sweet Gathering

Had a gathering with friends form vancouver, ShenZhen, and HKG on Thursaday, the high light of the evening was having dessert at this Zoe Cafe‘s Causeway Bay shop. We ordered a couple of cakes to share including the famous 1459 layered puff cake, Mango cheese cake, chocolate mud cake and a double decker chocolate cake.

To sit in there is a minimum charge of HKD50/person, so as long as you order a piece of cake and a drink it will simply more than that….cakes taste nice and the size is acceptable, actually remind me of  another cake shop in Vancouver called Ganache Patisserie

  • Up coming holiday trip

After nearly  4 months of  non-stop flying , I will be having a holiday at the end of Oct and heading to Singapore.  Other than Tokyo, Singapore is the 2nd place which I hv visited most even more than Bangkok . Lots of people saying that it’s boring in SIN, I think I do appreciate the modern and exotics South-east Asian  atmosphere.

Before that  I will also fly to Calgary on Westjet (WS) for one night to assist the company’s Roadshow of the new products, and this is the very first time I will be in Calgary, I know that I won’t hv much time to explore the city but at least a chance to have a look of the most wealthy province of Canada.

Back to my holiday trip, usually I’ll fly on staff ticket however since  all flights are fully booked within the whole OCT  to HKG and I have paid for my SIN package, I can’t take any chances of being offloaded, I therefore reserved a seat on Oasis HK Airlines on the way to HKG and yes….as a customer it’s very cheap, as an airline staf…well though a bit higher than what I usualy pay for , at least I have a confirmed seat and if anything happens I can…hahahaha ‘Yell’ to the staff! And actually try out by myself  another type of long-haul travel i.e. Budget

From HK I will be flying to SIN  with the Legendary Singapore Airlines, again for the very first time! well since I hv never been on thier flight I can’t compare the hard product, the catering…etc cos all I know about SQ is their forever Singapore Girl image.
