  • It’s not a Plastic Bag

okok…..first of all I don’t own this BAG……I just took a photo with it from the courtesy of one of my best friends BB….. He didn’t queue up days and nights for this bag( both of us would not do succh a thing for SURE!!) but a friend in NYC eventually got two for him!

Actaully don’t know why all a sudden the bag is soo popular some places like Singapore, Taipei just cancelled the sale of the bag because they scared of people would get nuts , all I know it’s from the Desinger Anya Hindmarch   maybe the marketing did do a very good job. Anyway it’s tote bag for shopping…..for produce, meat….grocery stuff……..u name it….

  • Aviation Day

Though I have been to the HKG airport Terminal 2 quite often for food, this is the first time I hv visited the Aviation Discovery Centre there becos of the newly open Observation Deck.

The centre itself is free of charge with some exhibitions regarding aircraft types, theroy of flying, basic knowlege of the aircraft wing, and history of the airport of HKG, while you can pay to play their paly station games, visiting the observation deck or  the 4 D theatre.

I even went to watch the  movie Transformer at the 4 D theatre. Though the movie being shown on the 3D screen, I ddidn’t feel the big differences….but the tix was quite reasonable at HKD60, whill of course Airlines staff will be HKD10 less…..

  • shark’s fins soup

hm…..haven’t had one real good shark’s fins soup for a long time…..last Friday had one at a Chinese Restaurant in YVR location 41st and Granville (thank you Mr Lee for a lovely dinner). Though it’s not my favourite ”Tin Gau Chee” I used to have at my Ex-partner’s home in HKG, It’s one of the best I have in YVR.

Both  in HKG and YVR  we can have the smae quality of the shark’s fin but the soup base is somehow different. To broil the clear  soup there are  3 main ingredients: the Chicken, Pork and the Old Aged Chinese Ham, however the Chicken being used  in North American is being critizied by the Chinese from asia as tasteless while the Ham is not permitted to be imported into Canada. Without them the soup will be less tasteful, some restaurants will have no choice to add MSG  which will ruin the whole experience, because of the after taste  and being thristy afterwards.

The soup I had on Friday night was above average without the taste of MSG which I really appreciated of course I  do miss the homemade one by my Ex with very high quality of the soup  and the  outrageous quantity of the shark’s fins (imgaine having the fins just like having mini noodle)

  • Had dinner with Andy and Ah Lynn Thur evening at the Hapa Bar/Restaurant in Down Town Vancouver.  Bacsically they serve fusion Japanese food. Since it’s  quite a popular spot so no reservation will be entertained, by the time we arrived, the place was 90% full and the waitress offered us an outdoor table enthusiastically and  we accepted the offer the opposite way….it doesn’t mean that we don’t like the outdoor dinning, but not as eager as others who were waiting behind us….Frankly if we were not that hungry we might hv given the table to them….

Then we talked about such incidents always happen in our life,  for instance, we have a friend who  is so eager to be a flight attendant(specially with CX)  He tried so many time but so far still unsuccessful( of cos we all hope  he wish will  come true some days) while lots of people who hv never thought to be one but eventually got the job. It seems life is sometimes quite frustrated……

Anyway back to the dinner, food was good and the evening was very pleasant: Life can be very enjoyable as well!

There was a construction accident in Causway Bay HKG On Tues, it happened around 0945 in the morning at a site where they are demolishing the old Japanese department store building(Mitsukoshi) a few workers got injured while 02 were dead and their bodies were hung for the whole afternoon while the last one being removed around 1800 in the evening…….so sad to know that…

I was at that area around 1900 and there were still lots of people and reporters gathered and saw this:

Over all of this restaurant is average……food is ok but the texture of the chicken is strange, service is not very attentive, the only high light of the meal was the Chocolate cake….

After dinner all of us had a walk along the English Bay, it’s Summer therefore the sun doesn’t set till 2130 it’s a nice walk…

Then we headed to Oasis……well not the cheap cheap Oasis HK Airlines but a Restaurnat/Bar along the Davie Street to have drinks though I don’t drink alcohol and Evan ordered a Ly-chee Martini which has a very strong Ly-chee aroma

  • One Night in NYC

Being called on standby to operate a flight to NYC on Wed…which I seldom do becos…1. I don’t like wake up too early to go for flight, 2. JFK is such a busy airport, the aircraft has to go around in the air for at least 20 mintues before approaching, then after landing ther usually no gate available waiting from 10min to over an hour 3. Departure from JFK is the same case…..we arrive at the airport and wait at least 20 min to board the flight and after puch back another 30min to an hour for take off beocs of the traffic! and No exception on this trip I finally got back home at 0400am…….

Of course NYC itself is quite an interesting city, lots of places to visit be it for cultural like museum, art exhitbitions, a shopping and food paradise….Thank god I had a couple of crew willing to go shopping at the Century 21 and the Shanghaiese Steam Dubplings( one of the best all over the world ,surpised? from NYC!) on this trip, making this trip more rewarding…..

and yes..Alwin was working so I spend the day by myself till meeting him at night at the airport….. and I dont’ really know why Macdonald being kicked out from the airport and replace by the Burger King…though the food quality is better in Burger King the price is…….. well a Junior Whopper combo cost HKD43 with a slightly bigger burger, same size Fries and medium soft drink compare to Mac’s one HKD25!?…. while I was waiting for Alwin at the arrival hall, I ordered a Hot Fudge sundies and was shocked to know that it cost me HKD12.50 and no option to add on some peanuts…

Next week I shd try Krispy Kreme donuts cos they are hving promotion at their airport outlets…buy 4 get 1 free plus a further 10% discount for airline staff….
