Flying on the White Whale
The last high-light of my Nov 2009 trip was flying on the A380 Super Jumbo aircraft, and I chose Singapore Airlines not only because of their superb inflight service, but I could pay less to fly on the ‘White Whale’ as SIN/HKG is actully her shortest route so far. The take off was smooth and powerful, the engines were actually very quiet, only the landing in HKG was quite noticeable, cos usually when I was on a B744 upper deck, I could feel nothing on landing, Overall a pleasant experience..
Their upper deck is divided into their Long Haul Business Class and Economy, however according to my friends working with SQ, they may eventually remove the economy class on the upper deck with all Business seats, depending on the global economy

Boarding the flight and passing through their Long-Haul Business class

On the window seat you can find the side floor compartment just like the one you can find on the B744 upper deck

The extra leg room seats at the emergency door area, well you have to pay to get the seat and you have to be able to speak English and capable to follow the cabin crew instruction to carry out emergency duties……

The stair at the back of the aircraft to commute between the upper and main deck economy class, and the view of the main deck

Cool. Wish I had the chance to travel like you do.
@Toro69 - for sure you will…..
Oh, I do find the side floor compartment a neat feature to stow your stuff! And I can also see the extra wide wing span as well!!
You know, I’ve considered buying a three-leg trip BKK-HKG-SIN-BKK so I can try the A380. In that picture of the exit row, is that a single economy class seat next to the F/A jump seat? That would be strange to have a solo seat. Any extra cost to book seats in this mini economy cabin upstairs?
@CurryPuffy - tat’s one of the good part to stow our loose stuffs there in-stead of under the seat in front of us.
@christao408 - there’s actually a seat in front of the jump seat….. u can actually choose your seat on the upper deck without paying extra except for the extra leg room seats, if you book thru an agent, make sure they have sent the request for you, if you book on-line, u can request it from their site; from what I hv observed on my flight which was completely full they tend to put the group on the aft of the main deck as usual
