A reunion with old school mates
Last week in Hong Kong other than the usual eat and shop, I did have a mini re-union with a couple of old school mates from Secondary school(high school) one of them I even have known since Primary School - after 25 years. a gathering which I haven’t been thinking of over the years until I joined those groups in Facebook last year and eventually it helps us to reconnect since this July, and really have to say Thank You with the help of Facebook. At the dinner we talked about what had happend with us over past 25 years after we left the school, and how times passes…luckily we all look more or less the same and healthy, though time does have left her traces on us…
The place we choose for dinner is a restaurant funded by some cooperates which offer jobs for those senior who are willing and capable to work as a server, therefore all servers you encounters are at least over 56 years of age. Those servers are actually very professional , very courteous and I just like their can do spirit…much much much better than those I have been encountered these few months in Hong Kong….to those young ones I just wonder when you will show some passion or respects to your profession?
Anyway this restaurant is called Gingko House as we went to their location at Jordan Road Kowloon side, apart from the good service, this place does offer a decent western/fusion food. and one last thing is the Tips are for donation purpose!
complimentary pre-meal veggie dip, house special focaccia bread
their signature dish Goldlucious something something…
留金歲月 rye rice with gold flake in a pumpkin, grilled Chix with pumpkin sauce and grilled veggieThere is this lucky draw at the Elements Mall for this Bling-Bling Mercedes, for every HKD2000 you spend at the mall you will have one chance to enter the draw, it’s the Malls 2nd anniversary
and for the celebration continous with the Hat Exhibition….

Wow – you know a classmate for over 25 years? I don’t even see any of my high school friends anymore.
I think it’s great that there’s a restaurant like Ginko House. I am still puzzled why in such a competitive place such as HKG, some restaurants don’t emphasize service even more. It’s nice to see that these guys can out do a lot of their competition.
I’ll certainly bookmark this place, nice to see good services in a restaurant with no “inch” servers! BTW, it’s amazing these days what these ‘social sites’ can do for us, I might find my long lost cousins via FaceBook!
Nice hats! Glad you had the opportunity to see your friends again.
@ElusiveWords - Among my closest group of friends are ones dating back to junior high and, in the case of one of them, all the way back to 3-year old preschool. I’m very fortunate to have known that group for so long and still be in regular touch with them.
@christao408 - 3 year old preschool! Wow… this is amazing.
@christao408 - @ElusiveWords - Wow, yeah that IS amazing. I wish I had long-time relationships like that. I’ve lost touch with everyone I’ve known for any significant amount of time, though there are xangans here who I’ve known for over 10 years from online journalling pre-xanga. One guy I’ve known actually now that I think about it, I’ve known him for 20 years now. Wow. Hasn’t seemed that long.
@ElusiveWords - @CurryPuffy - @christao408 - @chow@ireallylikefood - it’s really great to have a chance meeting up with the old buddies from childhood, with all those memories good or bad, we shared and laughed at over the dinner….and Chris….pre-school! I can hardly remember their faces…….
so nice!
I have friends from kindergarten!
