  • The New Canada Line of the Translink System in Vancouver BC

Thursday night, tried my very first time on the new Canada Line from Richmond to Vancouver for dinner. This sub-line of the subway/skytrain system aim to link Vancouver city with  city of  Richmond and  the Vancovuer International Airport…

On my way back, I took a coupld of pics….at the King Edward station

I think the train take me back to Richmond reasonably fast in about 15 mins even faster than I drive during rush hours…..of course like other train systems I need to walk to and from the stations….

Frankly I haven’t been to the Vancouver downtown that  frequent  since 1)  I don’t like driving, 2) lots of restriction on driving within the tiny downtown area, 3) expensive for parking, However with the new train system I think  it will change….

  • I wonder how much your trip cost (one-way)?

  • the whole  Metro Vancouver is divided into 3 zones, so during rush hours travel in  1 zone is about 2.25, 2 zones about 3.25, and 3 zones  4.25? and the ticket is good for 1 1/2 hours u can hop onto to any trains, buses, sea buses within the  time. after the rush hours and on week-ends, public holidays….flat rate of  2.25

  • I was doing some on-line reading about the new line.  Fantastic improvement for YVR as one of the big hassles was trying to get into the city.  Especially as Richmond has grown so much having this connection into the city will be wonderful.  Thanks for posting the pictures.  Tawn and I will have to get up there one of these years to try it out.

  • They said building the new line was not solely  for the Winter Olympic next Feb, I’m sure  it’s one of the reasons (together with the growing population ) It’s really  a big improvement though.

  • we were there the day after it opened too … we LOVED it!

  • @AppsScraps - oh yes..it’s one of the good things happening in here….
